The Volvo Ocean Race is the world’s pre-eminent round-the-world yacht race and one of the most coveted prizes in the sport. The Race is owned by Volvo Cars and Volvo Group.

Tangozebra won the project in 2006 and was responsible for the entire digital activation which included a fully content managed and localised website, rich media advertising campaign, online games, desktop apps and email marketing. We also were responsible for creating and shaping the event identity into the digital space, having only the event logo to work from.

As Creative Director, I led the creative teams through the entire project from initial pitch response through to the final delivery and subsequent maintenance, updates and optimisation during the race itself.

To help win the pitch we decided to develop a flash prototype of the website. This truly brought the vision to life in a visually compelling way.
