A little nostalgia…
I was a founder and Chief Creative Officer of Tangozebra, a digital creative and technology advertising specialist, that was one of the early pioneers of rich media advertising back in 1998. As well as overall business strategy, I was responsible for building and leading the creative department including all creative direction and identifying and implementing operational, creative and project processes.
Following the sale of Tangozebra to DoubleClick in 2007 and subsequently Google in 2008, I went on to form, and head up, the Google Creative Services Team that supported the EMEA territories. The team was 30 strong and made up of digital designers, developers, project managers and client services.
Over the years I have worked as the Creative Director on a huge number and range of digital projects for a multitude of clients spanning most industry sectors. The types of project have ranged from simple online banner advertising campaigns through to addictive online games, fully Integrated Digital Marketing activation campaigns, User Interface design and development and one project, The Volvo Ocean Race, required all the digital components to be designed and developed for an elite global sporting event…
I have been consulting to a startup crowdfunding platform, Wayblaze, on its business strategy and product design and development. The platform helps enable civic projects that create better places to live, work and play. Prior to this I was working as a contract Creative Consultant and acting Creative Director for TC Communications, an Integrated Marketing Agency in Berkshire. The main objective of the role, during this 3 month contract, was to introduce improved workflow, project and creative processes in order evolve the quality of the creative output and better integrate the creative team into the broader business as a disconnect between departments had developed over previous years. In addition I also conducted a fuller audit of the business. This involved making key observations and subsequently, where applicable and relevant, making recommendations in order to improve, evolve and optimise the effectiveness of the business, especially how it could better embrace the digital marketing landscape.
I was also involved with winning a major opportunity for one of my partner agencies, Electric Hummingbird. The project involved the design and development of custom User Interfaces for Ad Exchange Online Tools for a major global Ad Exchange / Real Time Bidding (RTB) backbone technology provider.
Before this I was consulting to the sports publisher Snack Media, to help setup their own Real Time Bidding (RTB) solutions; and designing and developing rich media advertising solutions for a large financial publisher’s Tablet publication.
With a proven track record, I love collaborating with creative and technical teams and thrive on crafting beautiful innovative solutions for any clients creative challenge across the constantly emerging digital landscape.
